Below are some key events in Nonlinear's history so you can see how we have evolved over the years. It's been an interesting, and at times a very exciting journey!

2014

Nonlinear Dynamics, a Waters Company, releases Progenesis QI and Progenesis QI for proteomics with a public launch at Analytica 2014. These new products include new features whilst combining the functionality of two previously separate branded software products, Progenesis and TransOmics™ Informatics into one. This maintains the recognition of Progenesis as world-leading software for ‘omics data analysis and its support for all major instruments you may have now or in the future, including additional features specifically to support Waters customers.

Nonlinear expands its software development team with the recruitment of two new software engineers.

2013

Nonlinear Dynamics becomes part of Waters Corporation. Nonlinear continue to operate from their headquarters in Newcastle on Tyne; developing, selling and supporting Progenesis LC-MS for proteomics and Progenesis CoMet for metabolomics/lipidomics. As part of the acquisition the sales and support of Progenesis SameSpots software for 2D gel electrophoresis image analysis are transferred to our sister company, TotalLab.

Nonlinear expands its customer support team with the recruitment of a new customer support coordinator.

Progenesis LC-MS v4.1 is released with automatic reference run selection then alignment of imported runs and alignment quality scores reported.

Progenesis CoMet v2.0 is launched to market with automatic deconvolution of compound ions, an integrated search tool and improvements to the workflow.

2012

Nonlinear releases Progenesis ClearSpec which deisotopes and charge deconvolutes thousands of high-resolution MS/MS spectra in seconds. It has multiple uses including protein characterisation studies, increasing reliability and accuracy of peptide and protein database searches and helping researchers build high quality spectral libraries.

Nonlinear expands its development team with the recruitment of 3 new software developers and a new software tester.

A new Omics research platform from Waters is launched, which is developed by Nonlinear Dynamics and powered by Progenesis. The Waters TransOmics™ Informatics for Proteomics and TransOmics™ Informatics for Metabolomics software launches were announced at the 60th ASMS Conference in Vancouver, Canada.

Progenesis CoMet v2.0 beta is released which includes compound ion deconvolution and improvements to the workflow.

2011

Progenesis SameSpots version 4.5 is released which allows users to link protein search results to spot data and put their 2D analysis into biological context.

Nonlinear moves into a larger office space in Keel House (Newcastle upon Tyne, UK) to allow for expansion of the team. Nonlinear USA Inc also relocates to new offices in Durham, NC.

Nonlinear unveils version 4.0 of Progenesis LC-MS with an extended workflow for the quantification and identification of proteins which includes multivariate statistics.

Nonlinear releases Progenesis CoMet v1.0, a new product developed to measure the relative abundances of metabolites through the analysis of LC-MS.

2010

Progenesis LC-MS v3.0 is released including a workflow to analyse fractionated samples, the ability to normalise based on a sub-set of known peptide ions, import results from Scaffold (Proteome Software) and exclude non-unique peptides from protein quantification.

Progenesis SameSpots v4.0 is released with a new experimental design option as well as additional features to help manage data quality. It's followed later in the year by v4.1, which incorporates the SpotCheck workflow for monitoring the reproducibility of gel running.

Progenesis LC-MS v2.6 is released, with enhanced support for quality control, greater integration with external hardware and data formats, and further enhancements to peak detection.

Nonlinear starts 2010 with a new look for the company and Progenesis product range and a new, improved website.

2009

A new management team is appointed to drive forward the Phoretix and TotalLab product ranges which are developed and marketed by TotalLab Ltd - a company spun out of Nonlinear Dynamics.
